Bedford RLHZ Emergency Pump NYV 820

Bedford RLHZ Emergency Pump. NYV 820

NYV 820 was built in 1955 and it served it’s entire career with the home office.  At first, with the Auxiliary Fire Service, then with the Emergency Fire Service, and was eventually gifted to the NHVS in November 2006.

Originally designed for the Auxiliary Fire Service, to replace the ageing collection of fire appliances left over from the Second World War. The Green Goddess saw very little action until the Fire fighters strike in 1977 and again in 2002. Primarily designed as a pump the appliance carries a 300 gallon water tank and a Coventry Climax pump that can deliver 300 gallons a minute at 100psi to 4 hoses simultaneously.

This Wallis & Steevens roller has many similar features to the earlier Advance steam roller that was built for many years at the company's Station Hill works in Basingstoke.

Fordson Major Tractor

Fordson Major Tractor.

The Fordson was built in 1957 at Dagenham by Ford. Unfortunately, not much is known about the History of this tractor, but we believe it served faithfully for many years on several farms in the Oxfordshire Area.  Finally finishing its working life in a scrap yard in Ewelme, nr. Wallingford from where it was purchased for restoration.

After a five year restoration was completed in early 2009, the Fordson was able to make its first public appearance at Basingstoke's Festival of Transport. The Fordson has since proven its worth at our show since the acquisition of a trailer.
